GM Ignition Recall Still Haunts Many Families

GM dealers across the nation are getting ready for a potential onslaught of car owners returning to their lots to receive repairs on over 2 million cars that GM has recalled for a faulty ignition switch that has been linked to 13 deaths. The faulty switch allows the ignition key to fall out of the “on” position which in turn disables the engine and air bags. It is being reported that many families of those who died in GM cars because of faulty ignition switches want justice for those who have died and want prosecutors to go after GM for letting the problems persist for more than a decade. The company itself has acknowledged that in 2004-2005, engineers turned in proposals to fix the ignition switches in Cobalts, Saturn Ions and other small vehicles, but the fixes never took place. And GM says that upper management only became aware of the problem last year.
