Hospital Sends Baby Home Without Noticing a Stick Lodged in Her Throat

| Feb 29, 2016 | Medical Malpractice

Ryan Jinks took his infant to the ER at Bryan Hospital when she would not stop crying and screaming. He reports the doctor merely checked the infant’s throat with a flashlight, diagnosed her with a viral infection, and sent her home. Once home, her mother, Karen Jinks, discovered a piece of a red stick stuck in her throat. Mr. Jinks rushed the infant back to the emergency room. Paramedics used a tongue depressor to open the infant’s mouth and forceps to remove the stick. Mrs. Jinks has contacted Bryan Hospital claiming the doctor was negligent. The Hospital’s CEO has disagreed. Mrs. Jinks has not yet filed any legal action.
