$150 Million Awarded To Family In A Jeep Fire Death

A Georgia jury has awarded the family of a 4-old-boy killed, when their Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded into flames after being rear ended, a $150 million verdict. It has also been noted the jury told Chrysler, the manufacturer of Jeeps, they must pay the full amount. The verdict came when the jurors ruled that Chrysler acted with reckless disregard for human life. The issue is that Jeeps were manufactured with gas tanks mounted behind the rear axle making them susceptible to ignite into flames when punctured or hit from behind. Federal documents report that at least 75 people have died in crash fires becuase of the rear mounted gas tanks.
