A superior court judge in New Jersey has upheld a $11 million dollar verdict in a transvaginal mesh lawsuit filed against Ethicon Inc, a unit of Johnson & Johnson. The surgical devices are used to help treat pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urninary incontinence. Court documents indicate that more that 19,000 lawsuits have been filed against Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson in vaginal mesh cases.
