We Are In The Business Of Healing

Will you fully recover from a traumatic brain injury?

With many injuries that you could suffer in a car accident, you will eventually make a full recovery. For simple injuries like a broken arm, your doctor can probably give you a rough prognosis regarding when they think that injury will be healed. As long as there are no complications such as infection, life should return to normal after weeks or perhaps months.

But what if you have a serious injury like a traumatic brain injury (TBI)? This could leave you with memory problems, sensory issues, trouble balancing, speech and language issues and much more, depending on the nature of your injury. Will these symptoms eventually dissipate as you make a recovery?

Every case is unique

Brain injuries are notoriously hard to predict because every case is unique. It depends on how serious the injury is, how quickly you get medical care, what part of the brain was injured and much more.

One thing to be aware of is that it is very common for brain injury healing to stop before all symptoms have been eliminated. For instance, you may see significant healing over the next six months, but then it could plateau and you may not make any more progress.

The trouble is the brain usually cannot replace neurons, which are brain cells. All it can do is find new neural connections or pathways. With other injuries, your body can regenerate cells, such as skin cells or blood cells. But since brain cells generally lack the same ability, complete healing is not always possible.

This means that your injuries could turn into a lifelong disability, so be sure you know what legal options you have to seek financial compensation.
